Do I Need Renter's Insurance? Some of our homes require tenants to have renter's insurance. Renter's insurance is going to cover your personal belongings and liabilities. What If The Home I'm Renting Requires Renter's Insurance?

If you are approved for a home that requires you to have renter's insurance, you have a couple of options. You can either use the renter's insurance provided by Assurant's Point of Lease Insurance Program. This program costs $14.50 a month and will automatically be added on your lease ledger each month. This convenient insurance provides personal liability coverage in an amount of $100,000 and personal property coverage in an amount of $10,000. The insurance company will issue a certificate of insurance in the name of all residents listed on the lease, up to a maximum of four residents.

You can also choose to find your own insurance. You will just need to submit your proof of insurance. Your insurance company should be able to provide you an evidence of insurance certificate.
